Thank you for viewing my website. I am pleased to offer a variety of original contemporary oil paintings for your viewing. I would like to hear your comments concerning my work.

My art reflects my life. As a deep blue ocean reflects the fiery red drama of a summer day's sunset so do my paintings reflect my life's journeys, my faith, my struggles, Nature's beauty, my desires, interests, passions, and values.

I believe that art and music complement each other. When I was young I was lulled by their music of the early 50's…only to be blown away as a college student by the beat of rock and roll and the emotions of Motown during the 60's. I still love the golden oldies and some of my paintings were called "Beatlesque" due to the influences of that era. Like the lyrics and pounding beat of a Rolling Stones song, my paintings reflect the vibrant colors and bold lines of that time. Even today, my painting style is fed by a palette of rich and vibrant color.

The Mexican muralist with their broad strokes and black outlines have made a definite impression on me. I also identify with the works of the French impressionists, especially Monet with his subtle and magnificent chorus of soft brushstrokes and beautiful blends on his canvases. I have tried to emulate their style in many of my abstracts paintings.

I paint in oils with acrylic under painting which allows me to portray the strength of color in my work and make my colors—especially the "Vina Red"-- as my painter friends call it—really pop for the viewer.

As for subject matter, I consider myself a thematic expressionist…I'll take a theme such as romance, the environment, luck, gaming, beautiful women, musical instruments, etc. and paint canvases to express my thoughts on the subject.

In retrospect, I can see my work as a reflection of both the bold and the sublime, a Tex-Mex accordion of art and culture from so many decades. You are welcome to view my current artistic journey at my website vinartworks.com. Art and music have helped to mold my life. From the influences of Monet and Picasso to Warhol, Robert Indiana,Mondrian and Siqueiros, my art is still a "work in progress. May art and music continue to inspire and fill my home…studio…and my life…WHAT A GRAND ADVENTURE THIS IS….ROCK ON!!!
